Till 1975 there were no Baptist Christians seen in Apatani valley. The first church came to this community in 1977. And on 1993 Apatani Baptist Association was unanimously formed. First Apatani Christian Fellowship Conference was called for the first time in Ziro from 21st 24th October 1993. About sixty delegates from Itanagar, Pasighat, Daporijo and Jorhat met together at Ziro Baptist Church, Hapoli. They were joined few delegates and missionaries from Nagaland.
On the second day of the conference, Apatani Christian Fellowship selected first office bearers of the Apatani Christian Fellowship. From this first Apatani Christian Fellowship Conference, every Apatani Baptist Christian has been organizing annual conference of ABA.
During the conference on 24th Oct.1993, 45 people were baptized at Siiro River. Out of them 43 were Apatanis. Rev. Takeng Taggu brought a life challenging message on the theme “Come heavy laden, I will give you rest’ Matt 11:28-30.
A healing ministry was followed in the conference. The conference was attended by the then Hon’ble Home Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. And he laid the foundation stone for the construction of permanent building of Ziro Baptist Church. According to Tage Donyi, the first Apatani conference was ecumenical in nature, because the conference was attended by their denominations such as Roman Catholic group of Apatani and Revival church.
